This bird flew into a classroom where my brother teaches in Papua NG. Anyone have a clue what it is? He's not into birds so he has no idea.
He's at Ukurumpa, which I think is the lower part of the highlands.

Is tahiti/pacific swallow more likely?

Thanks, Mark and the fern. I think Barn swallow is right. It does occur in PNG, apparently.

Yes but it's not the default swallow, and you'd expect the tail streamers to be longer and wing shape to be a bit different (unless juv, or post moult). Perhaps it's just my ignorance, but I'd go for the default species or leave it at "swallow sp."

You are right! barn swallow would have a dark band between the throat and the belly.
