April in Norfolk & Suffolk (1 Viewer)

Oulton Marshes near Lowestoft yesterday. Unseasonably warm for early April over 20 Chiffchaffs calling, almost managed to photograph a Cetti's Warbler, without doubt one of the most tricky birds to get a picture of. More warblers in very early including singing Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Common Whitethroat and Garden Warbler (very early for my area), Garden Warbler showed well too. Two Buzzards were flying overhead and it looks as if a pair of Lapwings & Oystercatchers might be attempting to breed. Still some Wigeon about, probably enjoying the weather.

Breydon Water later this afternoon, unbroken sunshine & warm again, with a bit of a cool breeze too. Apparently American Wigeon & Kentish Plover were around, it's a very large area though. Tide was very low & the few waders including Avocet, Curlew & Black-tailed Godwit were rather distant. Two pairs of Pochard & a Little Grebe were on one of the small lakes, plenty of Skylarks and Meadow Pipits present & for the 2nd day running was to slow on the shutter to photo a Cetti's Warbler. A Shag flew southwards, 2 calling Whimbrels flew in, again very early for these. Then to cap the day my eye was caught by a large elegant Richard's Pipit in the grass below the bank, quite an unexpected find, had a minute or two of fairly good views, though my photos weren't the best!
