I expect it's a juvenile something or other but I'm at a loss.

This is just a guess based on the dark spot on its chest....Song sparrow?

It does look good in my limited experience, the white moustachial stripe surrounded by brown, and as Michelle says, the dark spot on chest.

That's what I thought when I first looked this morning, but I was too chicken to comment! Now a couple of braver souls have stood up to the plate, so I'll be the johnny-come-lately who comes in a few posts down and confidently proclaims "Surely that's a Song Sparrow".
