Not sure whether to put this here or on the book forum, but on balance think this is the best place.

The bilingual 'Field Guide to the Birds of the Strait of Gibraltar' has very handsome illustrations of Spain's avifauna by Juan Varela, a good map of local status and brilliant occurence graphs. I cannot recommend it too highly ...... and now it's free to download!

By the way, for anyone confused by the Spanish form, although name, surname, etc. might be obvious, C.P. is codigo postal. I'll leave you to figure out what that translates as!

Perfect timing (I'll be over there for my first visit for a month pre/post Xmas).

It'd be good to have any feedback for my notes on the area (see my blog) as it's not a time I've ever managed to get out there much.

I'll try. I won't have much time for birding as it will be a family gathering and house hunting trip but I'll get a few days in for sure. :t:

Yes, it's excellent, but little known. Years back I offered to review the first edition for a well known UK bird magazine, but they declined because it'd been published two years earlier - never understood the logic of that!
