Hi dear BF peeps!
This might not be new to all of you but thought to drop the comment.
The first-ever field guide to Nicaragua was published last 2014 and is now for sell in the US by buteobooks.com http://www.buteobooks.com/product/14500.html some US amazon sellers have it listed, although most ship from UK or Germany, Buteo books (who sells it for more $) has it at stock.
In the UK www.nhbs.com also offers the guide. http://www.nhbs.com/title/204760/a-guide-to-the-birds-of-nicaragua-nicaragua-una-guia-de-aves
I just had a quick look at the book and have to say that it is a great job indeed, with exception to some of the flycatchers, most of the illustrations are well done. I love the fact that shorebirds are precise (some illustrators have issues with this group sometimes), it is compact and easy to carry, the sheets are thicker/stronger, something I was disappointed with the 2nd edition of the Garrigues guide for Costa Rica.
In the down side, and a BIG downside is the lack of range maps, this is a basic feature of any field guide, perhaps all in order to make it as compact as possible.

After seeing this guide it makes me want to bird this neighbor country, after all, I so want to see a road runner!:king:
