Yellow-legged Tortoiseshell invasion Netherlands (1 Viewer)

As 35 °C did not sound well for birding, I gave in and twitched one anyway.
The Sooty Coppers I "incidentally" found later (while searching for Filago arvensis) were more fun though!
 
The tortoiseshell was the first ever, but the coppers are quite common in certain areas in the centre and north. I just never got round to visiting good areas...

Thanks, just wondered if we should be looking out for them as well. I have checked distribution and seems like they are resident in NL. Glad you got the SY-lT
 
Yep wind direction seem ideal for them to keep coming! I wonder how far west they will reach. I'm going to keep an eye out over here.

Don't really know myself but view on butterfly forum based on the speed of hibernation is it's probably already over.
