We went to one of our local parks, as there are now bird feeders to look at if nothing else appears in town. We don't have quite the ducks to look at that we have in 2 weeks. The location lists are here.

I found a red tail in a tree, and we had to spend some time with it as it had no red tail and could potentially be another bird.
Then someone found "another raptor" in the same tree. Several suggested that it was a Cooper's hawk. The head was not right but I agreed that it was probably that, if it was a bird. I was the leader.
As I moved the group along the path I realized why the bird would not move, even though we got closer to it. The bird was falling apart! It was made of wood parts hanging on two branches. Sorry, I had no camera. The red tail was real and turned its head, then ignored us.
Happy birding.
