Herring Gull, St.Ives, Cornwall, England, August (1 Viewer)

At the end of August, I watched this Herring Gull for about an hour at St.Ives, Cornwall, England. It seemed to be neither a juvenile nor an adult like the rest of the seaside scavengers it was with. The bird was extremely aggressive, and dominated all the others, including the adults. Its tail seemed to have much more extensive brown on it than any other juvenile individuals there, and I was always able to refind it in the flock fairly easily. I am no expert whatsoever with gulls, but, given the location, could this be an American bird ? Sorry about the photos...the originals were too big to be uploaded, so the bird is there as four sections !

It's 2cy Herring Gull - it is quite a different from juvenile (1cy). Nothing to suggest smithsonianus here.
