Highlands-Ardnamurchan questions (1 Viewer)

Our long awaited holiday is virtually herre:-O. I have had some good help from BF members and got lots of trips/visits planned (weather permitting).
I'm wondering if anyone could suggest some "must see/must do" places within easy reach ?
We have 2 Mull tours arranged.
Lighthouse is on the agenda.
Loch Shiel & Strontian woodlands are definite......

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Oh.....if anyone can do anything to influence the weather it would be good:-O

Try Kentra Bay, there's some nice habitat there which looked promising on a very quick visit I had a few years ago. Don't forget to investigate the salt marsh at the head of Loch Sunart.

Where the road starts to climb to go over to the Mull ferry, there's a little road off to the right alongside Loch Sunart, if you go along there, stopping as and where you can, you may pick up an otter.

Also the circular tour round by Loch Linnhe on the B8043, could be productive for, maybe, divers and Black Guillemot etc.

Just explore - take any little road off that you can and see where it goes LOL

Have you booked on with Mull Charters? Not to be missed. Tutus Mara trip also good but overpriced in my opinion

I tried Mull Charters but they tell me only go from Fionnphort and dont collect from anywhere over the "other side"......but as I'm based in Archaracle I can't really get to Fionnphort (unless I take the car-which makes it a very expensive day:-C)

Mull charters are based in Ulva Ferry - nowhere near Ffionphort?

You are quite correct Marcus-sorry. But as I say I did contact them (by email) and they don't collect from anywhere on the east side and I can only sail to Fishnish or Tobermory.

I wanted to go with them as they seem to be the only ones specialising in 'Sea Eagle trips'.......do you happen to know if anyone on the east side or on the Ardnamurchan peninsula does anything similar ?

The only one worth visiting is Mull charters - I would make a real effort to visit them if you can - you could get the ferry from Lachaline which is much cheaper? I think only £20 return plus you don't leave Ardnamurchan

Thanks.
I did check the cost and was quoted £56.60 return (driver & passenger) but have now checked with the actual ferry and can do it for £31.75 (£21.75 for the car & £5 per person).
I have just phoned Mull Charters and although busy do have spaces for the
21/2 trip........so although it is relatively a expensive day it will be a 'once-in-a-lifet-time' so will go for it.
Thanks.
