We will be spending some time just recovering from the disorientation of flying across all those time zones - but we will have one whole day free there. Can anybody direct me to any birding sites that can reasonably be reached in a day trip from the Capital?

A morning at Gefarsa Resevoir and the afternoon at Debre Zeit wetland will get you a huge range of species.Both are within easy reach of taxi ride from the centre of Addis.
