"Labor Day has just passed. Isn't it time to take down my hummingbird feeders?" This is one of the many questions we get each year through Operation RubyThroat, so "This Week at Hilton Pond" we thought we'd devote our photo essay to ten of the most common queries we get about hummingbirds. We discuss everything from the appropriate sugar water mix to timing of migration to identifying hummer age/sex classes and hope you'll visit our installment for 26-31 August 2012 at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek120826.html
While there don't forget to scroll down for accounts of all birds banded or recaptured at the Center during the period. We include some general notes about Great Egrets, migrating bats and Common Nighthawks, and the absence of Deer Flies, as well as acknowledgement of support received this week.
Happy Nature Watching!
