Is there any bird list that relates to Ross/Cromarty or Easter Ross?
Going there mid-April and wondering what to expect from a shoreline cottage near Tain and shortish trips around Dornoch and Cromarty firths.

Hi,

All the usual species all round the coast - seaducks, terns waders etc. Try Tarbatness for seawatching. Nigg Bay RSPB for wildfowl and waders. Loch Fleet for Ospreys, Greenshanks etc, Embo for seabirds and Purple Sandpiper. The minor road from the southern edge of Loch Fleet to Bonar Bridge is good for moorland species including Hen Harrier.

Try Highland and Moray Birds forum http://highlandandmoraywildlife.freeforums.org for recent sightings etc.

Full details of the area can be found in my book Best Birdwatching Sites in the Scottish Highlands (new edition imminent - PM me if you want further details)

Hope this helps

Gordon
