Angry Cricket World Cup threatening habitat for endangered species

I don't see anything about this on the list; I hope it can be made sufficiently unpopular that it does not go through. I don't personally have more info than what is copied below.

Subject: from the American Bird Conservancy

The January 2005 issue of Bird Conservation from
the American Bird Conservancy (the magazine
regrettably is NOT on-line) has two excellent
stories pertinent to the insular Caribbean.

If you have a special interest in these articles,
you can write the editor and maybe he can help
--- that’s George Wallace <gwallace@abcbirds.org>.

One is about the White Breasted Thrasher: --->>>

Soccer [Correction --- CRICKET] Match Threatens Thrasher
=================

This is a one page piece about the threats to the
highly endangered White Breasted Thrasher on St.
Lucia and Martinique, as a result of continuing
resort development, especially a hotel proposed
by DCG Properties LTD on Praslin Bay, St. Lucia,
in order to build rooms for the WORLD SOCCER
CUP
in 2007. Contact Mike Parr for information

Unfortunately, tourism, industry and housing is destroying valuable bird habitat Caribbean-wide. Here in Trinidad, a proposed industrial park and rapid deforestation of the mountainous areas for housing is causing many naturalists to have nightmares.

And I haven't even started talking about garbage dumping and ifactory effluent.

Damn crickets! My girlfriend had cockroaches in her apartment and they were bad too. But crickets?! Is it like cock fights?
