    Swallow-tailed Kite Been about 2 years since I've seen one over the yard. Not the best of images but I had to grab it. Apparently, it is an endangered species here in South Carolina. Sure glad a got a look at one today ;)

    A fairly rare bird to spot in the U.S., mostly occurring in a few southeast states, but primarily Florida. beautiful, striking black and white markings and telltale forked tail make them stand out.

    A Kettle of Kites heading out for breakfast! This kettle is from a nearby pre-migration roost that numbers in the thousands. Many have already left for their wintering grounds in South America and the remainder will be leaving in the next week or so.

    This is a composite shot of Swallow-tailed Kited soaring, and gives an impression of the small flock that were buoyantly soaring in circles that morning. It is actually a Photoshope composite of pics I took of just 1 or 2 birds, within a few seconds.

    Well as you can see, a successful breeding programme...hopefully. I have about another 10 shots of them although this is the only one of them breeding, I will try posting them another day
