    Yellow-rumped Warbler

This guy never made a sound as he was flitting around the pine tree, but caught my attention in the morning sun.
  4. Cleared for takeoff

    Cleared for takeoff

Yellow rumped warbler flitting around feeding. The refuge is awash with them. I saw a sharpie come out of nowhere and narrowly miss one right in front of me. Very cool.
  5. Yellow-rumped Warbler

    Yellow-rumped Warbler

The refuge is inundated with these guys currently.
  6. Yellow rumped warbler

    It's in there somewhere

Yellow-rumped Warbler. They are good at stashing their finds and then go back later to feast on it but this time it can't find it or another bird got it.
  13. Yellow-rumped Warbler

    Yellow-rumped Warbler

This is a male in breeding plumage. The name "coronata" refers to the usually concealed yellow crown patch. This is the nominate Eastern form "S. c. coronata" ("S. c. hooveri" is a synonym) formerly known as "Myrtle Warbler" showing its white throat. It is still treated as a separate species by...

    A lovely couple

Yellow-rumped Warbler — https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Yellow-rumped_Warbler/overview There are several sub-groups of the Yellow-rumped Warbler and I’m uncertain which I’m seeing between one bird and another. This male is of the more brilliant colors while others are more gray with subdued...

    One of my Butter-butts

Yellow-rumped Warbler In summer, both sexes are a smart gray with flashes of white in the wings and yellow on the face, sides, and rump. Males are very strikingly shaded; females are duller and may show some brown. Winter birds are paler brown, with bright yellow rump and usually some yellow on...

    Yellow-rumped Warbler

This migrant is a male in breeding plumage. The name "coronata" refers to the usually concealed yellow crown patch visible in this photo. This is the nominate Eastern form "S. c. coronata" ("S. c. hooveri" is a synonym) formerly known as "Myrtle Warbler" showing its white throat. It is still...
  18. Yellow Rumped Warbler

    Yellow Rumped Warbler

Among the first warblers to arrive in spring, and the last to leave in the fall. This warbler is still hanging around, very actively catching insects. I watched it hiding in a Hawthorne shrub in our yard, flashing out to hawk insects right from the air now and then. Then it would come over to...

    YRW.JPG

The Yellow Rumped Warblers continue to provide photo ops. I sadly just missed the "adult feeding young" shot here, but it's still nice to catch the adult and young together.
  21. YRW fledgling

    YRW fledgling

Here's the reason for the behaviour of the adult YRW in the previous photo. Yesterday the adult was attending to 3 or 4 fledglings, grabbing insects and peanut butter and taking them up into nearby trees where the younglings waited to be fed.
  22. YRW adult.jpg

    YRW adult.jpg

This Yellow Rumped Warbler has been snacking on peanut butter and has been making it a regular part of its diet all spring and summer. Later, obviously raising young, it would gather blobs of it like in this photo, and take it back to the nestlings. In the last few days, if there is no peanut...
