Good show on Friday night, less so last night (but still a strong luminescent greenish glow in the sky before midnight and again before dawn when I checked (Cornwall))

Northern Lights: Why you may not have seen aurora on Saturday

The Northern Lights waned early on Saturday night, but picked up again much later.

Apparently still a good likelihood tonight and Monday night (12th/13th May)

We missed the main event Friday, and went out last night, but no joy. The first pic I took however (10:30pm), facing North did have a bit of colour when the colour saturation was turned up.
Nothing in other directions, and no red, blue or purple in the saturation later in the night. Maybe! Lol maybe not!

There should really be a natural phenomena subforum, as you suggested on the other thread. Must be a fair few birders who find atmospheric and astronomical phenomena interesting.

Friday night was a failure for me, despite living in Southern Sweden. We had 100% cloud cover!!!

colette has always wanted to see them and despite trying a number of times failed. so friday night she goes to bed around 2245 i stayed up but headed to bed around 10 minutes later. at 2320 my phone buzzed with a message from the swillington bird group saying "northern lights over the reserve now" off outside in dressing gown took some crap photos but was sure i saw some green/purple so i woke her at 2330 with the words "there here"within seconds she was up.......and what a display the colours changed from blue to purple to green it danced in the sky stunning just stunning

I got pretty excited about my first glacier ... with birders being out and about there is a lot of crossover to the whole natural world - guess that includes geography and various sciences etc

Cloudy last night here unfortunately. Did wake up and look out about 3am, there was high flecking clouds (again, what kind of clouds were they? ;-) ), and the sky was a funny colour but that was it.

Just noticed this thread. Travelling over the peak night but went out once I reached Kolka and captured some vaguely odd colours when I pointed my phone North

Beautiful, it must be amazing to see something like that, I heard on the radio that Europe was seeing it, I was hoping I might get a glimpse of it here in Ontario, but nope.
