Six young barn owls have been stolen from a nest inside a mill in Norfolk. The door of Toft Monks Mill on Haddiscoe Island was "completely smashed apart" as thieves went into the building and took the birds, believed to be about three weeks old. It is believed that the chicks could have been taken to be sold, with each one worth about £100.

I am always a little worried about letting on to anyone about where breeding birds are. It's so sad that one has to be so wary of saying anything in front of strangers. Can't see teenagers being savvy enough to nurture 5 barn owl chicks to maturity.

Very sad to hear, a nest of Tawny Owls i was recording this year, 2 out of the 3 went a bit early, not 100% they were stolen but it was slightly suspicious.
