Hi,

Please help IDing the species in a couple of bird calls that I recorded in late February/early March this year.

1) Recorded in the montane forest of Lava, West Bengal - Some flycatcher species? - https://www.xeno-canto.org/532203

2) Soundscape recorded in the montane forest of Latpanchar, West Bengal. Yet to ID the calls of two species in this besides the blue-throated barbet and the green-tailed sunbird. The main call is a long single whistle and there is another call with two syllables. - https://www.xeno-canto.org/532202

Thanks,
Ajay

Ajay wondering if the low, long whistle might be a Purple Cochoa?

Grahame

Thanks, Grahame. Was wondering the same, but thought of confirming here as I couldn't find records of that species in this location (frequented by quite a lot of birders) that is a bit lower in altitude than its usual habitat. Also, that this was in early March again made me wonder about the ID (earlier than the usual records in this region that later than mid April).

Thanks again,
Ajay

A friend suggested Abrophila warm up notes so how about this?

Someone I know who goes birding there a lot thinks this is typical Hill Partridge vocalisation.

Thanks a lot, Andy. Really appreciate the help. Please do let know in case you get to know the other species in the call and the one in the other call.

Cheers
Ajay
