I read one of the threads recently where everyone was turned off by birding clubs. I went on a walk this morning on a slightly rainy day and had a good experience over all. The birding itself was slow. It appears we were probably a week too early for peak migration action. We did see a myrtle warbler, Eastern Towhee , red bellied woodpecker peaking out of its nesting hole, 10 blue herons, and a double breasted cormorant along with the usual. Our group was 1/2 beginners and 1/2 experienced. One leader was an older fellow with a bum leg who did his best to hobble through the woods and new his stuff. The other leader was a nature activist who was like a throwback from the sixties who knew lots of details about the enviroment. He passed along handy information about books, birding spots , and general enviromental information. Nobody bragged about their binoculars or their birding abilities. I had a good time. :bounce:
