Hi Ed,

here my suggestions:
This one is a Red-necked Crake (Rallina tricolor):
http://www.pbase.com/edagter/image/152994996
Female Black Sunbird (Leptocoma sericea), ssp. sericea:
http://www.pbase.com/edagter/image/152994995
A Honeyeater (Meliphaga sp.) species:

Female Golden Monarch (Monarcha chrysomela):
http://www.pbase.com/edagter/image/152972843
Possible Dusky Friarbird (Philemon fuscicapillus), but unsure. An exactly loction would help to ID the species. A Friarbird it´s anyway:

Might this be a juv/imm. Knob-billed Fruit Dove (plumage fits but no knob on the bill?)

Modest Tiger-parrot (Psittacella modesta):
http://www.pbase.com/edagter/image/152969475
Female New Guinea Cuckoo-shrike (Coracina melas)
http://www.pbase.com/edagter/image/152964892
Female Common Shining Flycatcher (Myiagra alecto):

The friarbird is shot around Manokwari - Northern Lowland area.
Thank you so far, its a great help to get all the right names. I stil need some 10 others.

Best regards from,

Ed Agter

Ed,
I can honestly say that I've never seen the bird in your first post but it looks very like a female Cicadabird (without the bars)
Some kind of cuckooshrike?
Tom

Thanks Tom for your input, this bird is allready identified as female New Guinea Cuckoo-shrike (Coracina melas) in my 1st post.
There appear a bluebird in Ed´s album which seems like a flycatcher/monarch typ:

Any ideas?

Wow, this is a myiagra flycatcher, if it's not a 'tampered' photograph it's a first for me. Doesn't look like a 'Shining' type
Ed, do you have more pics?

Looking at the fact that the legs are affected by the blue colour, I think it is Shining Flycatcher or something similar with colour processing problems. Some of the other "black" birds in the album seem to have been affected to a lesser degree by this.

Mark, I have a bit of experience of these flycatchers and it could be a Shining-type but I dont think so, I'm still struggling with this one

Little blue bird

Hi Tom,

The pickture's are taken on Biak Island and they where very dark so I had to do some pp in Photoshop. I put an other one on my site op page 8 and that one is with a minimum of pp. The bird seems to be dark blue and not as blue as on the other picktures. I think I made those to blue.;)

Hope you can identify him now.
Thanks in advance,

Ed

Still doesn't look a 'Shining'-type to me.....will pass this on to some friends more familiar with New Guinea birds.

Now i know why the flycatchers of the mainland didn´t fit. The bird was far too bright in the processed photos.

Thanks to everyone

Thank you everyone very much for all the input. I have to change my pp when I have dark pictures. Sorry for that.
