Hi, I have 2 bird boxes with Green feathers Ethernet HD cameras. One of them has had a bluetit sheltering over the winter. Over the last few weeks and I have seen two tits in the nest and I gather it’s the female that builds the nest. Over the last few weeks they have filled the bird box with moss and other materials though they still haven’t formed it into a nest yet. about 4 days ago the activity stopped. Is this normal?

Cheers … Keith

Hi Keith and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I've moved your post to the more appropriate Nest Box forum.

Strangely this is the second such post today. I'm not sure what is going on but maybe someone else has some ideas.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Thanks for moving it. I wasn’t sure where to post it.

It could well be that one of the pair has fallen victim to a predator, additionally they may have abandoned lining and laying eggs for another site. I have exactly this situation where a pair were starting to build in a box in my garden but after a few days, preferred the nestbox next door. Mine obviously did not have " kerb appeal " this year.

That’s sad, last year they laid 9 eggs and all hatched out but there was a cold snap, one of the tits disappeared and within a week all the chicks died
