Burbage Common Countryside Open Day, Sunday May 15th 2005 (1 Viewer)

Anyone in the south-west Leicestershire area on Sunday may like to pop along to the 11th annual 'Countryside Open Day' between 10:30am and 4:30pm.

Ample free parking at the Visitor Centre on Burbage Common, signposted off the B4668 between Hinckley and Earl Shilton.

Three marquees will hold stands from around 60 conservation, wildlife and countryside groups.

Weather permitting, there'll be bird and wild flower walks, horse-drawn carriage rides, morris dacing, pond-dipping and music from the local college band.

I'll probably be lurking somewhere for an hour or two around the middle of the day (I'll even wear my BF badge, if I can find it!)

There's a few Burbages about, around the country - mind you, most of this Burbage Common is actually in Hinckley rather than Burbage!

I always think that Burbage sounds more like a residue or a by product than a village, you know the sort of thing_"Ya put the manglewurzles in this ere ole in the top, turn this handle and the burbage drains out the bottom there".

You should read 'The Meaning of Liff' by Douglas Adams. ;)
