Costa Rica Quick Trip (1 Viewer)

I am going to make a quick trip to San Jose, Costa Rica for a medical procedure (colonoscopy). The purpose is to save money but since I will have a half a day of free time, I want to try to see some birds. Any recommendations for local guides (with a car) and where to go close to San Jose are welcomed.

I agree with Patrick being obvious for San Jose, and ask him what could be expected if you go different places around town

The Boug is comfortable and is good for expected garden species (a fair bunch) but it's much more worth it to get out of San Jose. Closest sites are El Tapir and Quebrada Gonzalez- challenging but good foothill rainforest birding with many good possibilities, and Poas area for highland species. I have some information and reports about those sites at my blog.
