Paul Reichard (1845-1938) was a German geographer and engineer. He collected in East Africa (180-1884), sending ethnographical specimens to the museum in Berlin. On this expedition he travelled with Böhm (q.v.). They discovered Lake Upemba (Tanzania) and Böhm died there of fever. Richard continued on alone to Katanga (Belgian Congo) and discovered copper deposits there, which led eventually to a huge mining operation. He wrote a number of papers including 'Deutsch-Ostafrika, Das Land und seine Bewohner' (1882) and 'Das Afrikanische Eisenbahn und sein Handel' (1899).

Paul Reichard (1845-1938) German engineer, geographer, collector in East Africa 1880-1884 (Crithagra, Ploceus).

I think Paul Reichard - Wikipedia is correct with birth year 1854.

And it fits to his death record and Paul Reichard (1854-1938) - Find a Grave Memorial
