Ethymology
We name this clearly characterised and distinct insularsubspecies in honour of Hedwig Sauer-Guerth, who contributed so much to our laboratory work in this and many other studies at the Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology, University of Heidelberg.

The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:
African Blue Tit ssp. Cyanistes teneriffae hedwigii Dietzen et al. 2007
Hedwig Sauer-Guerth has been a Technical Assistant at the Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology, University of Heidelberg, since 1984. She contributed greatly to the laboratory work of the authors' and many other people's studies.

The Key to Scientific Names
Hedwig Sauer-Gürth (fl. 2008) German ornithologist (subsp. Cyanistes teneriffae).

As we can find her on Facebook and LinkedIn it might be easy to get her birth year but I do not have an account on both. She seems as well political active here and is mentioned here indeed as Technical Assistant. As well to find on researchgate here.
