Dunnock with growths on face (1 Viewer)

How large are the growths? I hope he will be ok. It sounds like avian pox but you might want someone else to chip in. Also, welcome to this forum!

Hi Rose and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Without being able to see them we're completely guessing... so I'll throw ticks into the hat. Quite common after a long time in the nest. If it is, they'll drop off in a week or so.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Dunnocks often contract 'Bumblefoot' which is a bacterial infection of the feet. As a bird ringer I've seen lots of these over the years. It shows as a set of largish lumpy growths (like you describe). But as far as I can recall I've only seen them infected on the feet. They do sometimes indeed lose toes to this.
