eBird app "backround app" issue (1 Viewer)

My app was a bit cranky in this manner on iPhone 8, but on iPhone 12 (iOS 16.3) the gray bar at the top won't go away. it is there at all times. Turning Backround App Refresh won't change it. Tracking I have set as "only when using the app." But "always" gives the same.

How about a soft (NOT hard) reset or--if it doesn't help--reinstalling the app (you won't be able to see your older checklists on the device, but--obviously--no data gets actually lost)?

I was not going to do that, but yes, it was one choice left. And no, as soon as I have the app back, the gray bar appears.

Maybe try changing the screen resolution (it's sometimes defined by the power mode) to see more of the bar and try to do something to it, although I doubt it helps? The above was the only (stock) answer I could think of, unfortunately.

Very embarrassing. It was part of the wallpaper photo. I never maipulated the photo, but from one phone to another the gray bar got added by revovering all from iTunes!
