Filter thread dent / repair tool (1 Viewer)

Has anyone used one of these to straighten out a dented scope? I just bought an 82mm filter for my used Kowa 773 and found a small dent, but big enough to prevent the fitting of the filter. I've seen a YT video of a guy repairing a Canon lens with this tool and it looks like a good solution, but it costs £30.00 - not entirely sure it's worth bothering.

Any other suggestions welcome... the obvious default being, don't bother with a filter.

Cover the front element, then gently ease dent out with pliers.Put tape over the inside edge of pliers to stop marking the metal.

Thanks, but the fundamental problem with using pliers is that the retractable hood is in the way... it's shrouds the front edge of the scope.
