Hi all,

We've got some photos of finches from our trip to Galapagos - I'm not sure how easy it is to identify Darwin's finches - but we certainly aren't able to! Any help gratefully received.

Thanks, Paul and Catheryn.

All of the finches were seen on San Cristobal island, late November 2018.

1) Near the interpretation centre, Puerto Baquerizo Moreno
2) At El Junco, the highlands
3) At David Rodriguez tortoise centre on the edge of the highlands
4) At David Rodriguez tortoise centre on the edge of the highlands
5) At Puerto Chino beach

Generally, focus on the bill.
No2 is a warbler finch - cannot remember which of them is on that island.
The others I will return to later.

1 like 3
2presumably Gray WF
3 Unsure: this could be small ground or the smaller variant of medium ground (bill size is dimorphic on that island)
4 Medium ground
5 Probably Woodpecker F - Cactus finch is uncommon on that island
