My brother sent that to me last night, I was surprised to say the least. . Sad to see any young one end up as food, but as I told John nature is not always nice or pretty.
 
It makes one wonder how much of a predator tortoises are on ground nesting birds with eggs and chicks
I think it's clear that given the opportunity, they could be a considerable threat but as they're far from numerous, I'd imagine that their low numbers make any losses fairly sustainable, species dependant of course.
