06.00am this morning......

2 Gadwall, 1 Teal, 6 Mallard, 6 Moorhen, 14 Coot, 3 Little Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 3 Shoveler, 41 Tufted Duck, and 2 Great Crested Grebe (1ad+1juv), occupied the pools.

The on-site Jackdaw roost, number's approximately 200 birds.

5 Little Owl (2ad+3juvs), were noted along the riverside footpath.

7 Grey Wagtail, 140+ Swallow, 17 House Martin, 6 Pied Wagtail, 1 Black Tailed Godwit, 70+ Dunlin, 3 Snipe, 3 Green Sandpiper, 13 Greenshank, 2 Whimbrel, 1 Ruff, 1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Rock Pipit, and 1 Hobby, passed through.

Rough grassland/scrub.......1 Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Peregrine Falcon, 2 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Skylark, 1 Wheatear, 3 Marsh Harrier (1 female+2juvs), 26 Linnet, 31 Meadow Pipit, 2 Redstart, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 2 Whinchat, were noted.

25 Tufted Duck, 6 Coot, 3 Mute Swan, 3 Mallard, 2 Great Crested Grebe (1ad+1juv), 4 Gadwall, 25 Teal, 5 Moorhen, 9 Shoveler, and 3 Little Grebe, were on the pools.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

1 Water Rail was heard.

5 Greenshank passed through.

Early morning passage (06.00am).........700+ House Martin, (the highest number of this particular hirundine, that I ever recorded passing through the steelworks), 400+ Swallow, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper, 8 Curlew Sandpiper, (another site record for me personally), 7 Wheatear, 1 Rock Pipit, 1 Tree Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtail, 1 Redstart, and 2 Siskin.

Other notable birds.......1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Marsh Harrier, 50+ Stock Dove, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 10 Meadow Pipit, and 16 Long Tailed Tit.

5 Moorhen, 5 Mallard, 2 Mute Swan, 12 Coot, 7 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 12 Teal, 6 Little Grebe, 2 Canada Goose, 22 Tufted Duck, and 2 Great Crested Grebe (1ad+1juv), were on the water.

Early morning passage (06.00am).......350+ House Martin, 150+ Swallow, 2 Grey Wagtail, 1 Ringed Plover, and 1 Green Sandpiper.

1 Hobby, was roosting in bushes, close to SSSI Reserve.

2 Spotted Redshank, and 3 Greenshank, were noted as "fly thru's"

1 Cetti's Warbler was heard.

1 Kingfisher frequented the ditches.

Rough grassland/scrub/bare ground.......3 Skylark, 3 Bullfinch, 2 Stonechat, 12 Wheatear, 1 Marsh Harrier, 22 Pied Wagtail, 30+ Goldfinch, 50+ Linnet, 50+ Meadow Pipit, 40+ Starling, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 3 Buzzard, 4 Raven, 2 Reed Bunting, 3 Kestrel, and 2 Mistle Thrush.

Gosh!.....today was hard going.....I had a feeling, right from the off today, that with clear-ish skies, making any movements of birds very difficult to note, as a result of them flying too high, to be either visible or audible, plus an almost non-existent breeze to boot........and so it was.

15 Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebe (1ad+1juv), 4 Little Grebe, 6 Gadwall, 15 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 6 Shoveler, 16 Teal, and 2 Mute Swan, were on the water.

Early morning passage (06.00am)......500+ Swallow, 3 Grey Wagtail.

1 Cetti's Warbler was heard.

Rough grassland/scrub.......3 Kestrel, 2 Reed Bunting, 4 Mistle Thrush, 50+ Meadow Pipit, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Buzzard.

13 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 16 Tufted Duck, 3 Great Crested Grebe (2ad+1juv), 2 Mute Swan, 8 Gadwall, and 3 Teal, were on the pools.

Early morning passage (06.00am)......Nothing noted until around 07.00am, when the blanket of coastal fog started to lift......5 Snipe, 3 White Wagtail (first of Autumn), 6 Grey Wagtail, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Yellow Wagtail, and 10+ Rock Pipit were noted.

1 Kingfisher frequented the pools.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

Rough grassland/scrub.......3 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 8 Pied Wagtail, 2 Reed Bunting, 360+ Goldfinch, 20+ Meadow Pipit, and 20+ Linnet were noted.

*** The first signs of a White Wagtail and Rock Pipit movement were noted on the steelworks this morning, has anyone else also noted this on their 'Patch' please? ***

16 Pink Footed Goose, 50+ Swallow, 2 Grey Wagtail, 8 Siskin, 140+ Starling, 3 Snipe, 3 Ruff, 3 Pintail, 9 Mistle Thrush, and 1 Green Sandpiper, were noted as "fly thru's".

Other notable birds.......1 Cetti's Warbler, and 3 Kestrel.

7 Coot, 106 Tufted Duck, 7 Moorhen, 5 Little Grebe, 33 Teal, 3 Shoveler, 3 Mute Swan, 8 Mallard, and 2 Gadwall, were on the pools.

2 Kingfisher were noted.

4 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing.

4 Grey Wagtail, 6 Snipe, 5 Goldcrest, 5 Rock Pipit, 4 Swallow, and 2 Green Sandpiper passed through.

Other notable birds.......1 Peregrine Falcon, 30+ Meadow Pipit, and 1 Stonechat.

12 Coot, 62 Tufted Duck, 9 Moorhen, 1 Great Crested Grebe (juv), 28 Teal, 5 Mallard, 13 Shoveler, 1 Gadwall, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Canada Goose, 2 Cormorant, and 1 Scaup, occupied the pools, with 2 Snipe, 2 Green Sandpiper, and also 7 Grey Wagtail, that were noted, feeding on the Rocky Pool.

2 Kingfisher remain.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing.

Rough Grassland/scrub........155+ Meadow Pipit, 20+ Goldfinch, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 3 Kestrel, 5 Reed Bunting, 100+ Skylark, 20+ Curlew, 50+ Lapwing, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Stonechat, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 1 Marsh Harrier, and 2 Whinchat.

12 Coot, 49 Tufted Duck, 3 Mallard, 2 Cormorant, 111 Teal, 1 Mute Swan, 2 Canada Goose, 6 Shoveler, 5 Little Grebe, 11 Gadwall, 2 Little Egret, 2 Curlew, 110 Lapwing, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Grey Wagtail, 12 Snipe, and 2 Green Sandpiper were noted.

2 Kingfisher remain.

2 Water Rail were heard.

4 Cetti's Warbler, were heard singing.

8 Bar Tailed Godwit, and 1 Tree Pipit, were noted as 'fly thru's'.

1 Firecrest, the second record for us here in the last twelve months, was found amongst the mixed tit and warbler flocks.

1 Coal Tit, ( infrequent here ), 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 2 Jay, were notable woodland birds.

Rough Grassland/Scrub.........2 Whinchat, 1 Marsh harrier, 50+ Linnet, 60+ Skylark, 14 Mistle Thrush, 30+ Chaffinch, 40+ Goldfinch, 8 Reed Bunting, 2 Kestrel, 2 Raven, 2 Buzzard, 50+ Meadow Pipit, and 1 Sparrowhawk, were noted.

18 Teal, 12 Coot, 6 Moorhen, 36 Tufted Duck, 2 Canada Goose, 5 Shoveler, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Little Egret, 5 Mallard, 4 Little Grebe, 5 Gadwall, 12 Greenshank, 4 Goosander, ( 1st of Autumn ), 4 Curlew, 6 Black Tailed Godwit, 1 Spotted Redshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 2 Grey Wagtail, 8 Snipe, 39 Lapwing, 2 Great White Egret, 1 Common Sandpiper, and 11 Pied Wagtail, were noted.

Early morning passage ( 06.30am ).........

220+ Chaffinch, 100+ Woodpigeon, 150+ Linnet, 120+ Meadow Pipit, 20+ Goldfinch, and 200+ Skylark, were noted.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing.

1 Green Woodpecker, was noted feeding along the footpath.

7 Siskin, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, and 3 Goldcrest, were notable woodland birds.

Rough Grassland/Scrub.......

3 Reed Bunting, 1 ( late ) Whitethroat, 2 Whinchat, 4 Raven, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Mistle Thrush, 2 Kestrel, and 2 Buzzard, were noted.

1 Kingfisher patrolled.

1 Cetti's Warbler was heard.

1 Rock Pipit passed through.

12 Coot, 1 Moorhen, 1 Grey Heron, 38 Tufted Duck, 16 Teal, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Mallard, 6 Grey Wagtail, 7 Greenshank, 6 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 3 Snipe, 50+ Lapwing, 5 Curlew, 320+ Black Tailed Godwit, 4 Bar Tailed Godwit, 2 Great White Egret, and 1 Curlew Sandpiper, were noted.

Stubbles........100+ Woodpigeon, 27 Greylag Goose, 500+ Jackdaw, 43 Stock Dove, 300+ Canada Goose, 3 Pink Footed Goose, 100+ Carrion Crow, 2 Meadow Pipit, 2 Skylark, 3 Pied Wagtail, and 50+ Starling.

1 Yellow Browed Warbler, was found associating with Chiffchaff and Goldcrest.

2 Rock Pipit passed through.

1 Cetti's Warbler was seen.

Rough Grassland/Scrub........2 Redwing, 2 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard, and 2 Siskin.

Stubbles........20 Pink Footed Goose, 27 Greylag Goose, 3 Pied Wagtail, 9 Stock Dove, 60+ Jackdaw, 100+ Woodpigeon, 100+ Canada Goose, and 14 Skylark.

10+ Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrest, and 20+ Long Tailed Tit passed through.

1 Kingfisher was noted

2 Rock Pipit passed through.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

1 Water Rail was heard.

Rough Grassland/Scrub...........4 Reed Bunting, 65+ Linnet, 2 Kestrel, 3 Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 1 Stonechat, and 1 Marsh Harrier, whilst...... ( 5 Redwing, 8 Song Thrush, 30+ Blackbird, and 13 Mistle Thrush, were enjoying the Autumn berry crop ).

56 Teal, 7 Moorhen, 35 Tufted Duck, 12 Coot, 3 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe (juv), 2 Grey Heron, 12 Mallard, 3 Shoveler, 3 Canada Goose, and 1 Pochard, were on the water.

70+ Wigeon, 1 Spotted Redshank, 4 Grey Wagtail, 2 Snipe, and 4 White Wagtail, passed through.

2 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

3 Great White Egret, were recorded as flyovers.

Rough Grassland/Scrub.......14 Redwing, 6 Reed Bunting, 2 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 ( late ) Sedge Warbler, and 10 Linnet.

1 Yellow Browed Warbler, was again noted in the bushes, around the SSSI Reserve.........same bird as 05/10/16 ???

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

Rough Grassland/Scrub/Stubbles............. 500+ Jackdaw, 100+ Woodpigeon, 16 Redwing, 10+ Chaffinch, 10+ Linnet, 3 Buzzard, 77 Stock Dove, 4 Reed Bunting, 5 Mistle Thrush, 2 Kestrel, and 20+ Goldfinch were noted.

at 07.00am this morning, with 50+ birds recorded. ***


Pools.........3 Little Grebe, 13 Coot, 45 Tufted Duck, 4 Moorhen, 22 Teal, and 1 Pochard.

5 Grey Wagtail, and 20+ Greenfinch, passed through.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

Other notable birds.........18 Redwing, 1 Kingfisher, and 28 Pink Footed Goose.

*** Many of yesterday's Robin 'invasion' on site, had clearly dispersed this morning,.........but could someone be so kind, as to advise me, as to where those birds are likely to have originated from......(.ie ),....from elsewhere in the UK, or, from somewhere on the continent ? ***

Pools..............11 Coot, 40 Tufted Duck, 6 Moorhen, 2 Shoveler, 2 Little Grebe, 23 Teal, 1 Kingfisher, and 1 Goldeneye, ( male eclipse ), with 1 Snipe, 2 Grey Wagtail, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Little Egret, 2 Greenshank, 10 Redshank, and 22 Lapwing around the perimeter's.

Rough Grassland/Scrub.......10 Redwing, 3 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Peregrine Falcon, 4 Reed Bunting, 1 Stonechat, and 1 Marsh Harrier.

but could not be re-located again ***

3 Water Rail were noted.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard singing.

1 Kingfisher was perched in poolside vegetation.

1 Great White Egret, and 28 Pink Footed Goose, were noted as a 'flyover's'.

Other notable birds........2 Raven, 3 Buzzard, 20+ Meadow Pipit, and 2 Kestrel.

Starling Roost, number's at a moderate 500+ birds.

Pools......21 Teal, 6 Moorhen, 10 Coot, 2 Mallard, 35 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Grebe, and 2 Canada Goose, with 2 Grey Wagtail, 6 Redshank, and 25+ Lapwing, around the margins.

3 Cetti's Warbler were heard.

1 Green Woodpecker passed through.

2 Great White Egret, and 250+ Pink Footed Goose, were noted as 'flyover's'.

Rough Grassland/Scrub.......1 Dartford Warbler ( juvenile ), 20+ Long Tailed Tit, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 1 Marsh Harrier, 12+ Goldcrest, and 2 Reed Bunting, were noted.

A 'probable' 6, but possibly 7, Great White Egret were noted as 'flyovers'.
