I'd love to join you Rob but timing not great for me.

For others interested, this will be a great trip - Rob is a great birder and photographer, and an all round good bloke. You are guaranteed to have a fab experience.

Mike

We didn't get the Partridge at Aural, (Laughingthrush was easy) or Florican at Tmatboey though I've seen it at another site and I don't recall the Grassbird at Kratie either.

Aural is also a very good place for Blue-naped Pitta and a few other endemic subspecies as well whilst at Kratie, you'll also see River Dolphins. Will be amazing, had, I not already done it all I'd be on my way!

Re finess at Aural, it's not a long trek but it's hot and steep in some places.

Great tour!

But let me ask you something.

I wonder if Cambodia is an expensive country or you are going to stay in good hotels but we are going on Saturday to Sulawesi and we are going to pay $1,120 per person for a 15 days tour all included with Malia Tours, a local agent (flights, both domestic and international, not included) . We are six people.

$3,000 is more money but maybe services in your tour are much better than in ours.

Regards,

Cambodia is not expensive, or wasn't when I was there but Sam Veasna tours are very expensive IMO, I presume this is what is planned? Even the trip to Prek Toal cost £295 each, you can see how prices rack up.

Accomodation will be very basic away from major centres, sleeping bags and mosqito nets. At Aural, you sleep in hammocks, suspended in the forest with built in mosquito nets. Aural is an expedition, you'll need porters and cooks. We stayed in the nearest village the night before and I slep in a sleeping bag, on a table under which, dogs and chickens were fighting all night!

At Tmatboey, we slept in a group house, on mattresses on the floor with mosquito nets, it's interesting if you've never does this kind of thing.

When I stayed in Seam Reap last time, I stayed in a small guesthouse which looked out on to a crocodile farm where a man fell in and was killed recently.

Hi Jose

I thought Malia Tours were a specialist Indonesian bird your company. Are they branching out?

Very attractive price you have there. I'd like to contact them myself and organise something.

Thanks

Mike

Timing not right for me, either.

But, Mike, if you do start to organise a Sulawesi trip, I'd be very interested.

Cheers
We are now in Sulawesi with them.

We will return on the 16th July.

I will send you the trip report.

Sulawesi is very cheap and the local flights with Air Lion too.

The expensive issue is the international flight from Europe to Jakarta.
