Grebe/waterfowl with orange/brown head and gray feathers in Northern Nevada (2 Viewers)

No picture, sorry.

I saw an orange headed waterfowl with gray feathers with a long, thin beak all by itself swimming and diving in a small pond. It was smaller than a mallard but bigger than a coot. It was seen today, June 18th, at a park near Reno, Nevada.

Any idea?
