Hello all! It's been a while since I've gone out purposely looking for a lifer, I'm more of a opportunistic birder. But what better opportunity than to be able to bird while vacationing in the Big Apple. I saw not 1, 2 but 3 new birds this past 5 days: a group of Brant waiting for handout at Liberty Island, a Blue Jay and a young male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker at NYC central park. They are special because the majority of my 225 life list birds have been western species.
