House Sparrow?

Agree a sparrow. Are there other options than house? Doesn't look quite right for that species

Hello,
I agree with Butty: the colours seems to shifted towards reddish hues by reflection from the sorrounding rocks and camera setting ??? No offence you know.

Seeing this, it might well be an House Sparrow, but as I havent experience with birds from that area, I better wait and learn. Thanks.

But it is no Rock Sparrow imo by

• unmarked undertail coverts
• plain face
• lack of yellow on lower mandible ??? Difficult to jusge here

Thank you everybody. I agree with you about the colours: the camera seems to have misunderstood the bird with the global scene.
Could it be a female of Dead Sea Sparrow?

Although the colours are a bit weird, I can't see any reason why this isn't a female House Sparrow, which is by far the commonest sparrow at Petra. I suppose it could be a female Spanish Sparrow, but on the balance of probability it's a House.

Could be. If Spanish is an option I'd favour that: chunky bill
