My wife saw this bird yesterday and it returned to our water sources today. It is primarily gray, about the size of a small sparrow, with a short tail. It also has white and little black. The most distinguishing feature is a bright orange beak and cheeks. The beak is wider than a sparrow.

The facial Coloring reminded us both of a puffin

There were two of them very similar in markings. Their song is three high pitched "peeps" all of the same pitch. If they return tomorrow I will try to get a decent picture. They are not that shy. I should be able to get more details also. Cannot find them in any bird book, app or online resource.

This time of year we do have a lot of migrating birds coming through so it might not be native to this area.

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BF :t:

I've moved your thread to the Bird Identification section and I have subscribed you to this thread so you don't lose track of it. One of our resident geniuses should have some suggestions for you but, by all means, a photo would make it a lot easier ;)

Ya know, it almost sounds like an escapee. Possibly a Zebra Finch? But I guess with 3 of them that would be unlikely.
