I would be grateful for any opinions as to which 'Diver' this is, and whether it is an adult or juvenile. Photographed in Northumberland (Lindisfarne causeway) 17.10.23.

Hello Roy,

agree with Darell on both points: its a 1cy Red throated Diver and excellent pictures. Please note
  • unique pattern o the back for a juvenile bird of this species
  • smallish bill, at least the other loon species would say this
  • slightly diffuse and not strong contrasting, but straight demarcation between dark greyish neck

Maybe it’s wrong to take from an individual photo, but tilted back head/upturned bill also classic red throated diver?
