Hillsboro, OR in late August (1 Viewer)

We're going to be in the Hillsboro, OR area for a festival and will have one free day we'd like to spend in nature doing a gentle walk and bird photography.

Looking for something with a density of animals (birds or mammals) without going forever between photography opportunities. For example, we live near a marshland rich in water birds and couldn't go 5 minutes without seeing a bird to photograph (yet we've been to nature parks where we could go 30+ minutes between birds...no fun).

Prefer NOT to go to Portland or East of Portland; we don't want to spend our free day near metro areas or wading through numerous construction zones. So we're looking for close to Hillsboro (north, south, or west) so we don't have to drive too far.

Hope someone can give some good recommendations!

Ended-up going to the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve. What a great spot, especially the numerous Osprey, which they apparently encourage with at least one nesting platform. We spotted at least 5 individuals throughout the lagoons. I should be posting photos in the next couple of weeks.
