Hard to be sure from these photos, but I think the undertail coverts are white, which would be consistent with American Goldfinch.
That could well be the case though, on the flip side, the overall uniformness of the olive face/upperparts seems to me a bit more in line with Lesser. As you say though, hard to be sure from these photos
