Id help pls, raptor, eastern L Ontario, June 20, 2022 (1 Viewer)

Hi, rather embarassing but I cannot identify this raptor. The head colour and eye stripe puzzle me, as does the lack, I believe, of any breast band or other breast marking. The colours of the photos are "true" I believe as they looked like that through the binocs. The photo was taken on Wolf Island, at the eastern end of Lake Ontario just off of Kingston Ontario, on June 20 around 2 pm. I have lightened several of the photos to the right. All help much appreciated. Thank you in advance

Fairly sure it's a light-morph red-tailed hawk.

That's a safe bet in Ontario in the summer. The only other buteos should be red-shouldered or broad-winged, and I'm confident it's neither of those.

I reckon it's a Red-tailed Hawk.

Thank you nartreb and Microtus. The lack or seeming lack of a belly band and what looked to be greyish shoulders threw me. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide an ID.
