To ID:
1) Found in the garden, Norfolk, on 17th July 2010.
2) A little black and white micro, found on the outside of the kitchen
window, Norfolk, on 20th April 2011.

To confirm:
3) A micro I photographed on 11th April 2011 in a Dandelion-type flower, at
Ranmore Common, Surrey. I'm hoping it's Pancalia leuwenhoekella 899.
4) Is this Pyrausta purpuralis? Photo from Blickling, Norfolk, 1st August
2010. Distinguishing from P. aurata seems quite difficult.
5) Is this a Vapourer caterpillar? The 'toothbrushes' look a bit odd, with two
dark ones.

TIA, Thomas

1. probably Endothenia ustulana,
2. Elachista apicipunctella,
3. looks like leuwenhoekella,
4. Pyrausta aurata; look at the dorsal part of the postmedian line, which is serrate in aurata.
5. yes, Orgyia antiqua.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for that information. I've been in touch with Jim in the past so will definitely send him a photo of the beast.

Talking of a larger image, what's the BF limit these days? I've probably been a bit over cautious in resizing as I couldn't find any gen on image size..

Cheers, Thomas

Hi Thomas

The current limit for jpeg images is 493 Kb & a maximum height x width of 1200x1600 so plenty of room to fill me thinks, its all listed in the box where you upload files

I've just been in touch with Jim Wheeler, who is expressing interest! I've e-mailed the original image to see if he can tweak it and pull out more detail. Will keep you posted.
Thanks for the image size info., Rob

Cheers, Thomas
