Green Sandpiper and Dunlin at Boldon Flats this evening. It looks as if present conditions on the Flats are similar to pre-drainage conditions, ie pre 1954. It would be interesting comparing this years wader passage with that of 1951. Pupils from the late inspirational Fred Grey run bird club, at South Shields High School for Boys, who would undertake daily visits to the Flats to count the waders.

Wader passage continuing at a pace at Boldon Flats. After yesterdays second Greenshank we have 10 Black-tailed Godwits this morning with 9 Redshank. Greylag numbers have risen to 39.

Boldon Flats saw 7 Dunlin this evening but generally wader passage has been very quiet of late with just the odd Redshank. A drake Pochard today was the Flats first for several years.

Wader passage continues at a trickle at Boldon Flats with two Green Sandpiper, two Dunlin and a Whimbrel today. A juvenile Marsh Harrier flew low over at 8-30 this morning.
