Hi everyone,

Has anyone got any suggestions for good spots to go for a morning's birding around Dalat? I would mostly be keen to look for the endemics. I am armed with a Honda Airblade but not looking to spend a lot of cash so anywhere that's easy to access for minimal cost would be great!

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Hi Kate,

Here are some resources which may help in your planning:

Others can hopefully offer more specific advice. Good luck and enjoy!

Hi,

the classic sites around Dalat, all good for a morning out are:
  • Ta Nung valley (you'll find it in google maps under KDL Sinh Tahi Son Dien Trang)
  • Tuyen Lam Lake
  • Lang Bian Mountain

Ta Nung Valley and Lang Bian have entry fees (on Lang Bian, you need to pay a car to drive up the mountain). In Tuyen Lam, forest can be accessed for free.

Ta Nung is the easiest site: closest to town and compact, easy to navigate. Just make sure to go early, before the crowds arrive.

Best, Florian
