Indian Paradise Flycatcher - which ssp? (1 Viewer)

Pretty sure this is a Indian Paradis Flycatcher which was shot in Singapore.

It could be the first sighting on this paradise flycatcher species in Singapore and even Southeast Asia. After the recent Asian Paradise Flycatcher split, the region only has Amur and Blyth's Paradise Flycatcher.

Pardon the noisy photos, can the specific ssp (paradisi or leucogaster) be identified from them?

I am leaning towards a female bird from the nominate ssp.

Seetoh,

Why is this not saturatior which has been recently re-assigned to Blyth's https://www.hbw.com/species/oriental-paradise-flycatcher-terpsiphone-affinis Note it is meant to winter to Malay Peninsula.

Hi Grahame

Thanks for pointing out that possibility. If I am not wrong, ssp saturatior does not have a pointed crest which is basically the key ID feature of Indian vis-a-viz Amur and Blyth's Paradise Flycatcher.

The photo in the link you provided may be mis-identified. Looked like an Indian to me from the distinctive upright crest but not sure of the ssp though.

See Toh,

Looking at the location it should be satutatior on range but agree the erect crest is at odds with that taxon and it looks like paradisi....should be more careful!
