Hi all

I'm assuming this is just a female Tufted Duck - I was slightly put off by the very rounded head albeit that the white patch around the bill is minimal.

Any comments welcome.

Yes, a Tufted Duck.

Yes, Tufted Duck it is, the other thing to always look at in these situations is the amount of black at the bill tip, in Scaup it’s just a small amount at the ‘nail’, on Tufted it’s a broad black band.
