I just flushed a large ( seemed around meadow brown size) moth from my lawn. It paused for a second on my buddleia before flying off out of view. It seemed to have white wings with a dark blue or black border running all around and the way it briefly sat gave the impression of a white diamond or rhombus shape. Body and legs also seemed whiteish or at least pale.

This is south wales about 400m from coast.

Any ideas of what to start looking at in the books.

My lawn is quite overgrown with a lot of red valerian

I’m not great on moths but am very familiar with all U.K. butterflies and it wasn’t any
