Minivets (1 Viewer)

Anyone knows if there are any taxonomic recommendations?

Summarised from the discussion :

With a few exceptions, previously proposed systematic relationships for the group hold true.

Pericrocotus cinnamomeus and P. igneus are sister species, but P. lansbergei, which has generally been associated with the two species, is linked to a group consisting of P. ethologus, P. brevirostris and P. miniatus (Taylor 2005). Resolution within the latter clade was poor and the actual inter-species relationships could not be determined.

There is a rather tight-knit relationship between the grey minivets (P. cantonensis, P. divaricatus, P. tegimae) and, as traditionally thought, a tight link between the more colourful Himalayan P. roseus and the dull lowland associated P. cantonensis (Taylor 2005).

A strong support (PP = 1.00) for monophyly of all recognized species was found, except for P. cantonensis (PP = 0.68) and P. cinnamomeus (PP = 0.79). However only one specimen of P. brevirostris was included and thus, as for P. divaricatus tegimae, support for monophyly was lacking.
