Please can I have help with the ID of these 4 moths. They were caught on 27th. March in north Norfolk. I am (relatively) new to mothing, but being colour blind find them the hardest wildlife group to identify with certainty! Thanks, Kevin

Hi Kevin,
your moths are:
1) Red Chestnut
2) Clouded Drab
3) Clouded Drab
4) Twin-spotted Quaker

Just for your info. my County Recorder is also colour blind and he is one of the most talented moth-ers around. He uses the insect's patterns rather than colours, which undoubtedly works well as patterns are more consistant than colours.

Thanks, Chris, and thanks also for the ID forum. I believe when I 'get my eye in' things will become easier! (Hopefully!)

Kevin
