Moth ID South of France (1 Viewer)

This moth was attracted to a light on our balcony in Menton, on the Mediterranean coast of France on the 15th February during a crisp, c7 degrees, still night (despite what the slightly messed EXIF data says). As a real beginner trying to ID it from my copy of Waring Moths of Britain lite didn't get me anywhere! Any help would be much appreciated and apologies for the poor shots,
Thanks.

Edit: rotated the images to make them slightly easier to look at.

Thank you both for the help. Now that I can see it in the book it certainly looks right to me. I have a lot to learn!
