Mourning doves (2 Viewers)

We had mourning doves take over our potted hanging plant. They hatched two eggs in there and both hatched fine. They were taking turns switching off. Coming back to feed them. It was amazing and beautiful to watch. Today I noticed one of the babies, much much smaller than the other was dead. So I made my husband remove it because I read that's what you're supposed to do. Not to cause distress for the other. Well the other just took off. It flew away. I didn't see it fall but I haven't seen it since and now mom or dad is back and they are looking for their babies and it's breaking my heart and I don't know what to do.
